Becoming a Parent: The Beautiful, Messy Beginning of Our Journey

The moment everything changed

There is a moment in life that silently divides everything into before and after.

For me, that moment was when I became a parent.

It didn’t feel like a movie scene. There were no perfect lights, no background music. There were tired eyes, nervous smiles, hospital smells, and a tiny little human who suddenly made my heart feel too full for my chest.

I remember looking at my baby and thinking,
“Is this real? Am I really someone’s mom now?”

It was exciting. It was scary. It was overwhelming.
And it was the most beautiful beginning of a new version of me.

No one is ever fully “ready”

We read articles.
We watch videos.
We listen to advice from parents, in-laws, friends, neighbours, Instagram, YouTube… everyone.

But the truth is:
Nothing can fully prepare you for becoming a parent.

You can buy all the baby products.
You can make the perfect hospital bag checklist.
You can plan how you will do everything “right”.

And then the baby arrives…
and suddenly sleep, food, shower, even sitting quietly for 5 minutes feels like a luxury. 😄

You realize you are learning on the go.
You make mistakes.
You cry sometimes.
You laugh a lot.
You feel tired and blessed at the same time.

And that’s okay.
You don’t have to be a “perfect” parent.
You just have to be a loving, learning parent.

The messy, magical everyday moments

Parenthood is not only about big milestones.

It’s in:

  • Tiny hands holding your finger
  • First smile that may or may not be gas 😄
  • Middle-of-the-night feeding when the world is asleep and it’s just you and your baby
  • Toys on the floor, burp cloths everywhere, half-drunk tea on the table
  • The way your heart melts every time your baby looks at you

Some days feel like they will never end.
But then one day, you look back and realize how fast everything is changing.

The clothes that once looked too big are now too small.
The baby who needed you for everything is suddenly trying to do things on their own.

That’s why I wanted to create a space to pause, breathe, and remember:
Parenting is not just hard work. It’s also magic.

You’re not alone in this journey

If you are:

  • A new mom or dad
  • Expecting a baby
  • Or just someone who cares deeply about children

…this space is for you. 💗

Some days, we’ll talk about emotions.
Some days, we’ll share tips.
Some days, we’ll just remind each other that it’s okay to be tired and still be a good parent.
